Passive/Aggressive States

I'm typing this from my big annual meeting where my accounting numbers are raked over the coals. Since I coordinate with New Mexico throughout the year, there usually aren't any big issues. There ARE big issues, however, between NM and the other 2 basin states of TX and CO. An issue blew up last year about how evaporation losses are calculated on one of the major reservoirs and NM and TX started feuding. Hey, this is the West! Whiskey is for drinking and water is for fighting over! It's highly amusing sitting in the meeting while all of the verbal sparring goes on between the states. I just throw my numbers out there and they fight over how they should be interpreted. The amount of snark and drama in the room would fit right in on LJ. Some of the exchanges are similar to, "Fine! I'll calculate things this way!" "Go ahead! Do what you want!" "I will!" Fine! I won't approve your number!" "I don't care!" I'm waiting for one of the engineers to hold his breath until he turns blue. *lol*
