The Lone Ranger

Yesterday I was checking out the Rio Puerco on Google Maps. The Puerco is the next major drainage basin to the west of ABQ. It eventually joins the Rio Grande about 60 miles to the south. It has a huge drainage basin, but generally runs at a trickle if even that. The drainage basin size, however, means that if there is any significant rains to the west of ABQ, there could be some massive flooding down south.

Anyway...I was looking at the drainage basin when I noticed a large feature that looked like a racetrack. What was out there?!? Zooming in showed that it was a railroad track. WTF?!? Looking around the area soon revealed that it was the filming location for "The Lone Ranger." It's kinda interesting to see a movie set out in the middle of nowhere. Here are the coords if you want to check it out. 35.141,-106.93

No. I haven't seen the movie yet. Netflix.
