I See Dead People

I am one of those people who doesn't really grieve or mourn. Sure, after someone dies I will cry and feel that emptiness for awhile, but then life moves on. Death is inevitable for all of us. It's something that we should all accept. Better to tell someone we love them while they're alive.

Yesterday I made a trip to the cemetery to visit the grave of my dad. It's been 10 years since he died and I haven't been there a single time. Why bother? As I have posted before, I felt like there was nothing left unsaid between us just before he died. What purpose would it serve to stare at a marker in the ground?

I was scouting out train-watching locations when I noticed that I wasn't far from the cemetery. I decided to stop in. I'm actually glad I did. I found the marker and spent a few minutes meditating. It was a very calm and peaceful moment. I then spent several frustrating minutes trying to locate my grandmother's grave which was supposedly only a short distance away. No luck.
