Garden Season - 2013

The 2013 garden season has been declared over. We had some temps right around 32F the other night, and it looks like most of the plants in the garden are dead. Fortunately I had heeded the freeze watches and harvested everything that was left to harvest. I had also brought in all of the houseplants (including Robert) so everything is safe. I just had to find room for all of the aloe and spider plants that I had transplanted over the summer. Overall the garden was pretty decent this year. A lot of the pepper plants were overwhelmed by the tomato plants and weeds. The tomato plants had a brief but productive period. The cukes took over quite a bit and I pickled almost 2 more gallons just last week.

It seemed like this growing season flew by. I had a heck of a time controlling weeds and the tomato plants overtook the sprinkler which meant that much of the garden had to be watered by hand. The few morning glory plants I let develop for the sake of adding some color just completely ran wild. So that's it for this year. Stay tuned in May of 2014 for the next gardening update!
