If you know the song referenced in the subject line...shame on you. OK. I'll hang my head in shame as well. I actually owned that Loverboy album ("Get Lucky") for awhile in the 80s. Actually, I was a glutton for punishment and actually worked for a few hours today. You might remember about a year ago I took over a study to look at the interaction of surface water and ground water. I went out into the field and collected data from loggers in wells all along the Rio Grande. I never finished my round of data collection however. Since there continues to be interest in the data that are being collected, I decided that I should continue to make an effort to get out into the field to download the data. Since we have been having incredible weather as of late (temps in the upper 60s with not a cloud in the sky) I asked the boss if I could work a few hours over the weekend to collect data in exchange for time off later in the year. She agreed. Whoot! Some wells were located less than 10 minutes from the house, so I headed out today to do a little downloading. It certainly was a nice way to spend a few hours in a nice setting (the cottonwood forest along the Rio) while also accomplishing something worthwhile. I still have to deal with lots of adversities such as wells that have been buried or destroyed or communication errors between the laptop and the loggers. If the frustrations get too much, I can just sit back and enjoy the lovely weather and fall colors.
