I like to think they I live in one of the better parts of town. Outside of a few burglaries the neighborhood is pretty safe. So imagine my surprise when I arrived home yesterday to find helicopters from every local news station buzzing around my house. I wasn't too concerned because it looked like whatever was happening was taking place a good distance to the east of Fur Central. I still went for walkies with Mesa as usual, but I swung a little to the east to see if I could see what was going on. Nothing. I got back home and turned on the news. It seems that some tard who was involved in a car jacking and murder a few months ago got stopped by the police nearby. Gunshots were exchanged and the guy barricaded himself in a nearby empty house. That set off a SWAT situation which also involved locking down 2 elementary and 1 middle school within a 1-mile radius. Ugh. He was eventually captured. It just goes to show you how you're never immune from scum seeping into your neighborhood. As I mentioned there do tend to be quite a few car/house burglaries in the neighborhood. It's probably because people here DO have money, but not so much as to be a gated community with rent-a-cops on patrol. In other words it's more easy pickins. On the other paw there are also a lot of cops that live here.
