Quick Update

We had our first frost of the year last week Wednesday. In preparation for that event I had harvested a bunch of thyme and oregano from the herb garden in hopes of drying some for the winter. I was going to find a warm dry spot to hang a few bunches, but then I realized I had a dehydrator that my sister had given me years earlier. It worked like a charm and the house smelled great!

I made spaghetti squash for the first time and it was friggin' delicious! I topped it with just a little butter, Parmesan, and some of the freshly-dried oregano. Oh hellz yeah! I think we'll be having more of it for dinners this winter. Best of all it is extremely healthy especially now that we're watching our carbs. On a related note I have dropped about 15 pounds myself over the past few months. Even my division chief came into my office and complimented me on the weight loss. 8 more pounds would be great. 18 would be awesome. Heck, 1 pound every 2 weeks would be just fine with me!

Finally there was a news story yesterday about the development up on the mesa. Here is the link to the story. Boo hoo! People who bought land up there are mad that their tax assessments are sky high now that there are roads, sewers, utilities, sidewalks, street lights, etc. What the hell did you expect?!? They're mad because someone told them a cost 10 years ago and it turned out to be much higher. Oh, the naivete! Maybe they expected to live like the squatters way out to the west where people set up trailers and live off the grid. Then they complain that they have to truck in water and they have to drive their kids so far to the bus stop. Gubbment! Hep me from my own stupidity!
