I had a very stable childhood. I lived in the same house for my first 18 years and attended the same school from K through 8. I raised a lot of hell when I was a kid. It seemed that I was in the principal's office every other day. The teachers didn't know what to do with me since I was such a hellion, but I was also a straight-A student. This was opposed to this other kid, Carl, who was a real Bart Simpson character. While I would joke that it would be fun to throw a bottle of paint out the window during art class, he would actually do it. He even got into a wrestling match with a teacher during class. Yeah. He was definitely destined to a rocky road. I actually saw him a couple of decades ago while walking through the old hood. I passed by his house and he was getting out of his beater van. Our eyes met and I instantly recognized him. I'm not quite sure if he recognized me. I was tempted to ask him if he had gone to prison yet. So fast forward to last night. I was sitting on the patio and his named popped into my head. I did a Google search and broke out into laughter. 2 years ago he shot and killed a guy at a party about 2 blocks from my mom's house. Everything fit. His age as well as the address of the house where he was later arrested. Thank you, brain. You got me out of that environment and gave me a future.
