Drive All The Way to Reno on the Wrong Side of the Road
Arrived in Reno today in preparation for BLFC on Thursday. I arrived early because of the weird timing this year with Memorial day. I could have hung out at home until today and drove up Tues and Wed, but that seemed like a waste of vacation time. So I came up early to do some touristy stuff. I want to check out the railroad museum up in Portola plus there's another museum in Carson City. I could also do some trainspotting on the Donner Pass line. Plus I can also just chill. I did something last night that I haven't done in quite some time. I camped out! I just picked a spot in the desert in the middle of nowhere and rolled out my sleeping bag. It was a bad location because there wasn't a tree to be found anywhere. On the other paw that gave me a 360 uninterrupted view of the night sky. Wow! No planetarium could ever capture the grandeur of the Milky Way like you can get in real life! About the only bad thing happened when I was setting up camp. I was taking stuff out from the back of the Furmobile when I heard a sickening *rip* in my shoulder. I pulled a muscle big time. The pain was (and kinda still is) excruciating. I hope it heals on its own, but I fear that I might have damaged something. Stay tuned. I'm currently staying at a motel not too far from the Grand Sierra. I'll arrive there on Wed. and meet up with Al and Dex on Thurs. It might be the first con that I haven't brought a fursuit. It's leading in to next year where I think I might pass up all cons. I've said it before. There are much better ways to spend my vacation time.
