No one can say that Kitty and I don't get out and do things. Last night we went to our second concert of the week. We have an awesome city that provides free events throughout the Summer. They book major second-tier music acts to perform at various parks around the city. Last night we saw The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. They were part of the "soundtrack of my life" back in the 90's when there was a phase that mixed alt-rock with ska and reggae. Think 311, Sublime, Rancid. In the afternoon I just wasn't feeling in the mood to go. Temps were in the upper 90's and I just felt drained of energy. Kitty felt the same way. We pushed ourselves to get out, and it certainly was the right move! The crowds were huge, but then again so was the park. Families congregated around the play area with bouncy houses. Young hipsters were hanging out at the beer garden. We grabbed some food from a food truck and found a nice place about 100' from the stage. The sun was just setting over the western horizon while a warm-up band played some damn good reggae. Finally the Bosstones took the stage at 9 and put on an almost-2-hour set. Our seats were great because most people around us rushed the stage which left a nice area in front of us to see the stage and stay well back from the mosh pit. When we got home just before midnight, I fell right asleep having danced the night away.
