First, some street art we found near our hotel. It was actually a sticker which I tried to peel off, but no luck.
LOTS of pics under cut.
I really liked this Picasso. (no one ever called him an asshole)
He also did a cute owl
And a goat
And even a goat sculpture
Rodin did more than "The Thinker" (which was outside in the garden)
How could I not love this guy! I discovered the artists Francois Pompon. They had a lot of his sculptures at the Muse'e d'Orsay
Here's a cute owl he did. I learned the word "chouette"
Before dingoes started eating babies, it was largely up to lions
Oh noez! Someone's gonna get raped by a centaur! Furries ruin everything!
Vermeer's "Monkey Painter"
Jean Chardin's "Monkey Antiquarian"
Another rendition of Zeus' rape of Ganymede
Ummm....yeah. I had to take a break after examining this fine sexy satyr
There were lots of renditions of Artemis. She's OK, but those stags!
In an earlier post I had mentioned a statue of a bull being attacked by a god, a snake, a dog, and a scorpion. Here it is.
Close up of the scorpion getting ready to sting the bull's junk. Ow!
Not sure if this was Artemis, but who cares! That stag!
Speaking of Artemis, we all know about the famous encounter between her and Acteon. He sees her naked and she transforms him into a stag. A furry dream! Unfortunately his hunting dogs then kill him. Sad! Here's a transformation painting of that.
Speaking of transformation...Latona is breastfeeding her children. She wants a drink of water to replenish her milk. The Lycian peasants think she's bathing in the sacred lake, so they muddy the water for her. Don't piss off a mother god! She transforms them into frogs. OK. So maybe I would piss her off a little if I knew the results.
Another Artemis (and stag!)
Not a furry pic, but who doesn't love Mighty Morphin Laser Jesus! *pew pew*
Barfing water dragon not too far from our hotel. (Fontaine Saint Michel)
A book I saw in a store window. It seems that Dubout was a famous French cartoonists who frequently drew cat cartoons.
Adorable random street art
