When the Academy Award nominations came out last week, I was a bit surprised to see that "Boss Baby" was nominated for best animated movie. I had only seen limited advertising and it looked totally lame. A baby running a corporation?!? Oh! Hilarious comedy! Kitty noticed that it was available on demand from Netflix so we gave it a watch. I guess the old saying, "never judge a book by its cover" is appropriate in this situation. It was nothing like I expected. It actually had a wonderfully well-written plot. Most of the action is totally preposterous, but when you realize that most of the movie takes place in the imagination of a young boy who would give Calvin a run for his money, it all comes together. Alec Baldwin plays the title character and the movie gets bonus points for paying homage to one of his most famous roles in "Glengarry Glen Ross" with the line, "Put the cookie down! Cookies are for closers!" I lol'd.
