Putting Things in Perspective

Last night Kitty and I watched the Oscar-nominated movie "The Post" about the Washington Post publishing the Pentagon Papers back in 1971. Additionally there have been numerous stories about the 50th anniversary of 1968 which was one of the most turbulent times in our country's history. My takeaway of all of this is that all of the people who are wringing their paws about how awful Donald Trump is and that our country is going down the toilet need to take a step back and a deep breath and realize that we have survived much worse in the past and we will survive this. I believe the pillars of the Constitution will stand. We NEED to support free speech, freedom of the press, and freedom to assemble. There are threats from both the Left and Right, but if we support our fundamental principles, we will carry on. We are going through a very rough spot right now but what won't kill us will make us stronger. I'm sure that if tyranny, REAL tyranny, reared its ugly head, the People would rise up against it. I have faith in our system. Someday a true patriot will rise up and put America first ahead of politics.
