We got a little taste of hurricane/tropical storm/depression Rosa yesterday. A line of storms blew through just about quitting time. I didn't encounter any rain, but it must have poured like heck based on the amount of water in the street. The sewers could barely handle it. When I got home I decided to check on the arroyos that I want to study. I saw that my diversion channel had once again flowed and is now in need of maintenance due to sediment deposition. The good news is that is HAS downcut, so I'm establishing a sustainable slope. When I got to the "waterfall" I noticed that it had just started flowing. It was kinda weird to see water at the top of the falls but nothing was coming out of the bottom for a good 3-4 minutes. Finally it started flowing down the arroyo and I shot more video like I did back in August. The front of flow was moving at about 4"/sec. Later, the flow was probably around 2-3'/sec. I had a lot of fun running around and shooting pictures and video. Yay! Science!
