Over the course of the past few days we watched "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "The Year Without a Santa Claus," "How thw Grinch Stole Christmas," "A Very Murray Christmas," "A South Park Christmas," and a surprise to Kitty, the Christmas episode of "TV Funhouse." (Does anyone else remember that show?!?)
The other big news has been the weather. We had a snowstorm move through on the 26th that dropped am inch or so of snoe on FurCentral. In typical NM fashion, it was gone by noon. Yesterday we were under a "blizzard warning" and we received a dusting on the west side. It was a different story on the east side of town, but I had to drive Kitty to a doctor's appointment in the morning and I was cruising along at 65 MPH. Now it's just cold as f***. Looks like I won't be watering my inside plants with rainwater any time soon since my rain barrels are frozen solid.
So mostly I have been chilling inside and binge watching a whole bunch. Here's a breakdown of "what the bear has been watching."
"House of Cards" - Netflix - Hello, Shark. You have been jumped! It's not the same without Kevin Spacey. Kill this thing!
"Escape at Dannemora" - Showtime - The true-life story of a prison break a few years ago. I'm hooked.
"Watership Down" - Netflix - I read about this adaptation in the WSJ and they were falling over themselves saying that this was great TV. OK. With furry points included, it's a total out-of-park home run.
"Aggretsuko-Christmas Special" - Netflix - I loved the series when it came out this year (see old LJ post). Here's the Xmas special. Sweet and furry. Watch!
"Pooka!" - Hulu - I just read about this show in furry groups in FB. Watched it. It's like a typical "anime/ Japanese horror" movie where there's a whole bunch of incomprehensible shit where everything seems to be tied up in the end, but if you think about things for a few seconds you realize that the whole thing is a bunch of bullshit. BUT...it involves a fursuiter. I'm conflicted. The suit would probably be close to "Frank the Bunny" fame from "Donny Darko" but I would totally wear it! Yeah...fursuit slut.
"Birdbox" - Netflix - I have been hearing a lot of buzz about this flick and I wanted to see for myself if it was so buzzworthy. Basically it has a plot similar to the movie "A Quiet Place" which has also been getting a lot of buzz for being a "low budget" Hollywood film that hit box office gold. We had watched it a few weeks ago and found it wonderfully scary. "Birdbox" came out on Netflix just recently and people had been calling it a ripoff even though it was more closely related to a book that was deemed a source material for "A Quiet Place." *shrugs* The bottom line is that we both found "A Quiet Place" far superior to "Birdbox" which left both of us feeling "Meh."
