The good news is that I have not received any error messages, so I think my federal return went through! Yay! And now it's time to work on my state taxes. Ugh! I went to the Department of Taxation and Revenue website the other day and I did not find a single link to file your 2018 taxes. You would think that as your major duty you would have a big, easily seen button to push to file. Nope. After searching around aimlessly for a few minutes, I just gave up. Perhaps I'm too soon. This IS the state that's famous for "manana." Two years ago they decided to do server maintenance the weekend before taxes were due. So I'll just wait patiently for the state to get its shit together. The hard part has already been done in terms of the basic calculations. It's now just a matter of filling in the blanks. But I will have to deal with the archaic payment system. They do allow you to pay by credit card, but then they tack on an exorbitant "convenience fee" based on what you owe, so even getting a cash-back bonus on the card is still a losing proposition.
