Fruit!

Remember this pic of my nectarine tree back in March?

Here's what all of those flowers produced!

That's about 80 nectarines there. Of course the 12 plums came from a different tree (duh!). This was the first year that the nectarine tree produced. And boy did it! My only regret was that I didn't cover it with bird netting. The little bastards got a couple dozen. I hope Diva delivers swift justice. She has been hanging out around the tree for the past week. The plum tree was covered so losses were minimal. The peach tree is loaded with fruit (and covered) but I tasted one this morning and they're not quite there despite being nice and red (or should I say peachy?) That's the thing I hate about store-bought fruit. I bought some lovely apricots a few weeks ago, and they looked perfectly ripe. When I tasted one, it was sour. The same thing goes for peaches, plums, and nectarines. They look perfect, but they are sour/bitter. Not these babies right off of the tree. Perfection!
