As I hinted in my last post, our local sci-fi convention was held over the weekend. It's going on 51 years now. It's primarily a literary con where authors are the main focus. In years past folks like George R R Martin would show up which would attract a crowd. This year it seemed like a totally dead affair. Perhaps I am used to furry cons where there is a much younger vibe. At this con I felt like a young one. *lol* There were lots of walkers and scooters about. My primary reason for going, outside of hearing the astronaut speak, was to throw a room party for the furries. Even the party floor was pretty lame, but we had a nice group of over a dozen or so. I even did a little fursuiting in Abbey who I haven't worn in years. I kinda consider him my "trainer suit" where if someone wants to try suiting, I'll put them in him. That even happened at the con. The con space was so small and dull that I was in and out of suit in a very short amount of time. I instead devoted my time to drinking.
My faux pas for the con was when I was taking someone around in suit. We stopped in at the Firefly/Serenity room party. I said that it was great to pay a visit to the brown shirts. Ooops. I meant Brown Coats. Brown Shirts are Nazis.
