Balloon Siesta

After last weekend's excitement we returned to our old boring lives. The only little bit of excitement happened on Saturday morning. In a normal year Saturday would have been the start of Balloon Fiesta. We would be waking up to hundreds of hot air balloons flying over the city. But this being 2020, that was not to be. To prevent a total washout, a bunch of balloonists got together and planned a mini mass ascension. They would launch from parks all over the city to give it the feel that Balloon Fiesta WAS happening. We knew something was up when the neighbor's dogs started going crazy. I went outside to investigate and was pleasantly surprised to see that one of the balloons had landed right in front of the house. This was only the 2nd time in my 20 years here that this has happened. It was great fun watching them get the thing deflated and packed away in probably less than 30 minutes. The chase crew was very apologetic that they were blocking our driveway, but we had no place to go. We got a trading card as a reward.

It really is a damn shame that the Fiesta is not happening this year. In a typical year one or more days would have been cancelled due to crappy weather. The forecast for the entire week is for above-normal temps, clear skies, little wind, and no rain. In other words, absolutely perfect. I, certainly, have been taking advantage of the weather. T.V. on the patio is almost a nightly thing, especially if football is on.
